What secrets lie beneath?
When Cassie and Liam start swimming at the lake neither of them realises the dark secrets that lie beneath. As summer heats up and the lake waters become lower and lower, the shocking truth is slowly uncovered. And soon, both their lives will change – forever. Text courtesy of Walker Books Website
Surface Tension- Meg McKinlay made me nostalgic for the days when I loved reading Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden.
There is an eerie feeling to Surface tension, right from the outset, and I will openly confess to being truly surprised by the outcome of the story.
Everyone loves the theory of small towns hiding big secrets, and whilst this may seem a somewhat tired story line, Meg McKinlay has done a wonderful job of inventing a fresh, original, suspenseful and intriguing story in Surface Tension, that will have you hooked to the very last page.
Cassie is a determined and intelligent protagonist, with a witty sense of humour, that girls will embrace, and boys will enjoy reading.
I would highly recommend Surface Tension- Meg McKinlay, as a novel to share with those students that enjoy atmospheric, suspenseful reads. Surface Tension is one of those rare novels that lends itself to both sections of the school library, it is more than suitable for Junior Fiction and yet, is engaging enough to take a place on the shelf in Young Adult.
Best you buy at least 2 copies in that case
